“The standard Martini glass may be an icon, but it’s crappy to drink from; it spills and tips easily.” - David Wondrich, Cocktail Historian
Now we have an abundance of options such as the coupe and what eventually became known as the Nick and Nora glass, which was debuted to the masses by Audrey Saunders in 2005 when she opened her pioneering New York cocktail bar Pegu Club.
- Capacity: 165mL
Look a little smaller than a standard martini glass, but hold 100ml, in a much more practical shape (less spillage if you’re clumsy like me!!)
Due to some medical treatment I'm undergoing at the moment, my hands are a bit shaky when I am holding the coupe glasses or martini glasses. These glasses are relatively flat, with a fairly large diameter, so I worry about slopping my drink. No problems with the Nick & Noras, though. A bit smaller in diameter, and a a bit deeper -- solves all problems, and to my eye, the drink still looks almost as elegant as it does in the more treditional glasses.
